Stage One is applying a multi metal alkaline
cleaner that removes most of the loose dirt and oils.
Stage
Two is a clean hot water rinse to remove all
of the remaining dirt, oil and any excessive alkaline
build up.
Stage Three is an Iron Phosphate
wash.
The Iron Phosphate creates a coating on the material
to help promote adhesion.
Stage Four is a
cold water rinse to remove any existing Iron Phosphate
and to stop the reaction process.
Stage Five is
a non-chrome sealer that is applied if the customer
requests it. The purpose of the non-chrome
sealer is to remove any unreactive phosphates, cover
bare
spots, stop flash rusting and to extend the life
of the material from salt spray.
